Camp sites
Houens Odde has 15 camp sites of which the biggest have room for between 50 and 75 people. The camp sites are situated around the forest and there are also large open areas at Stensgården.
Camp sites in the forest
At Houens Odde we have 15 camp sites that can accomodate betweeen 50 and 75 people in tents. The camp sites are situated around the forest. This means that a group can go camping on their own without ever noticing the neighbors on the other camp sites.
The soil is delicate in the forest and it is therefore prohibited to dig on the camp sites. We have established fire places and you must place pioneering works with poles and rope on top of the ground.
Each camp site is equipped with:
- Fire place
- Poles for pioneering in different lengths
- Fire extinguishing equipment

The large grassy areas at Stensgården are especially suited for larger camps with up to 2-3000 participants. At these areas you are allowed to dig fire places on the condition that these are covered up when you leave the camp.
Facilities at Stensgården:
- Toilet house with cold and hot water, showers and a handicap bathroom
- Poles for pioneering works
- Fire wood
- Garbage cans with garbage sorting signs

Practical information
At strategic places at Houens Odde you will find:
- Toilet houses with cold and hot water, showers and handicap bathroom
- Water taps with cold water for cooking and drinking
- Dry fire wood for food fires and camp fires
- Garbage cans with garbage sorting signs
You can borrow:
- Extra moveable fire places
- Barrels for waste water
You can rent:
- Patrol boxes with kitchen equipment
- Tents

Shelters
Would you like to be awakened by the sun and watch the fog lift over Houens Odde? Then you should consider booking one of out shelters. We also have a floating shelter so you can spend a night on the water.
Sleep in a shelter
Houens Odde has a total of 6. Three of them are joined in a horse shoe formation and forms a cozy camp site with a view of Eltang cove. One is on the other side of Houens Odde with a view of Gudsø cove. The last two are joined together and are floating on the sea just off the coast of Houens Odde. Please note that you can only book these in the period between easter and fall.
The two other shelter spaces are situated in walking distance from Stensgården.
All the shelters are built by the Houmen and volunteers on the centre.

Hammock circle
It is not likely that there is anything better than to be in a hammock and look up through the leaves of a beech tree.

It is not likely that there is anything better that to be in a hammock and look up through the leaves of a beech tree.
We have created spaces for hammock circles around the forest. The D-links are already there. The only thing you need to do is to borrow one – or 10 – hammocks.
If you dare, your patrol can spend the night in the hammocks. Remember to use your mosquito spray.

Time for thoughts
Houens Odde would like to make room for self reflection and thoughts. This can be with or without religious links. The beautiful surroundings will spark your thoughts and you can find rooms for thoughts throughout the centre. Small places, where you can withdraw and enjoy the silence or shout to the tree tops.
Room for a pause in nature
Stave church
Just to the right of Stensgården is a small stave church. A true copy of the churches that was erected throughout Denmark in the Middle Ages. The curch was originally built for the jamboree for the KFUM-Scouts in Denmark at Randers in year 2000 and since re-erected at Houens Odde.
The church has been consecrated as a real church, but is so no longer.
Room for thoughts
Just before you reach the Gilwell complex you will see a small triangular hut, known as the room for thoughts. The place has been created as a small breathing space where you can let your thoughts flow. This room is home to different literature on belief and thoughts and you can use it when you please while you watch the forest through the large windows.
Places of worship / forest church
We have two places of worship which are both situated with a view of the sea. They are equipped with rustic crosses, benches and a small altar.
They are located at Stensgården and the Gilwell complex. Follow the signs in the forest.

Indoor facilities
Camping in nature is a fantastic experience.
But sometimes it is also nice to sleep in a bed and to have good conference or teaching facilities.
